The pool and cooling tower system uses the purifying power of copper and silver ions; the copper kills algae and the silver kills bacteria.  The pioneers found that placing copper and silver coins in their wooden water barrels allowed the safe storage of drinking water during the wagon travel west.

In order to enhance this purifying effect, in the ClearWater system, copper and silver electrodes are connected to a variable direct current power supply in order to produce positive ions within a recirculating water stream.

A test kit is used so that the proper adjustment may be made for the water source and flow rate of the system. Once a setting is established, it usually does not have to be changed; a beneficial effect is a protective film on the inner surfaces of the plumbing.  A de-scalar induction device comes with the system so that it will handle even hard water sources.

There are 32 different models carrying a five years warranty. Applications include swimming pools, warm water spas, industrial cooling towers, water parks, decorative fountains, and aquariums for mammals or smooth skin fish (system should not be used in water for fish with scales). This non-chemical system not only saves on chemical maintenance, but also provides benefits to people who have skin and eye allergies to chlorine in the water to which they are exposed.

In public swim parks with many bathers, local regulations require that chlorine be used; the ClearWater Clarifier System drastically cuts down on chlorine maintenance, thereby paying for itself and saving the bathers from being exposed to heavy doses of the poisonous chlorine.
